RFE/RL Correspondent Seized By Masked Men In Minsk
MINSK -- Aleh Hruzdzilovich, a correspondent of RFE/RL's Belarus Service, has been seized and held by masked men who broke into his home in Minsk, a human rights organization reports in the latest crackdown on independent media in the authoritarian Eastern European state.

Minsk Labels RFE/RL's Belarus Service As 'Extremist'
elarus's Interior Ministry has added RFE/RL's Belarus Service, known locally as Radio Svaboda, to its registry of extremist organizations, in a continued clampdown on independent media and civil society sparked by an eruption of protests against authoritarian ruler Alyaksandr Lukashenka's claim he won a presidential election last year that the opposition says was rigged.

Ksenia Martul, a lecturer at the journalism department of the Belarusian State University, was detained during classes on December 14.

Ezhednevnik editor Siarhei Satsuk detained and taken into custody
The Belarusian portal Ezhednevnik (ej.by) is blocked. Its editor, investigative journalist Siarhei Satsuk, was searched and interrogated by the Investigative Committee. It has been reported to the Belarusian Association of Journalists that Siarhei Satsuk was taken into custody after interrogation in the old case of accepting a bribe. He will be placed in pre-trial detention center #1 in Minsk.

Authorities extend detention of sports journalist Aliaksandr Ivulin by another month
5 November. Aliaksandr Ivulin, a journalist with the now-blacklisted sports news website by.tribuna.com and soccer player who is viewed as a political prisoner by Belarusian human rights groups, has had his pretrial detention extended by another month, the unregistered Viasna Human Rights Center said on Friday.

Novy Chas editors searched and interrogated
Novy Chas newspaper employees stopped responding to messages on the morning of October 20. It later became known that journalists' homes and the editorial office were being searched. After the searches, Siarhei Pulsha and Aksana Kolb were interrogated and released.

Minsk, 5 August. Dzmitryj Dzmitryjeŭ, a photojournalist with the newspaper Novy Čas, was sentenced to 15 days in jail on Thursday on a charge of disobeying police orders, reported the publication.

Authorities block Naša Niva’s website, arrest its editor in chief UPDATED
Minsk, 8 July. Belarus’ authorities on Thursday blocked access to Naša Niva’s website and made arrests and conducted raids in what appeared to be a crackdown on the popular independent online publication.

Translator Volha Kalatskaya suspected under Article 342, again
The Investigative Committee reversed its decision to drop the charges under Article 342 "Organizing and preparing activities that breach public order or active participation in them" against translator Volha Kalatskaya. Ms. Kalatskaya will be prosecuted again. She is currently serving a two-year sentence of probation.

MFA brings Raman Pratasevich to briefing. He states he is not betraying anyone "but just cooperating with investigation"
