Ales Bialiatski becomes Nobel Peace Prize laureate

CPJ condemns Belarus ‘witch hunt’ after three BelaPAN journalists sentenced to lengthy prison terms
Belarusian authorities must immediately release Andrei Aliaksandrau, Dzmitry Navazhylau, and Iryna Leushyna, three former and current employees of independent Belarusian news agency BelaPAN who were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 4 to 14 years on various charges, the Committee to Protect Journalists said Thursday.

KGB puts political prisoner Andrei Pachobut on “terrorist list”
The State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) has updated the list of organizations and individuals involved in terrorist activities. At present, there are 922 people on the list, including Andrei Pachobut, a journalist and leader of the Union of Poles in Belarus. He was added to the list on 4 October.

Ex-state media journalist Dzmitry Semchanka sentenced to 13 more days of arrest
On 3 October, the Frunzenski District Court of Minsk sentenced a former All-National TV political observer and former head of the “presidential pool” of journalists to another round of administrative arrest.
