A Claim against ‘Narodnaya Volya’ Rejected

The Leninski City District Court of Minsk has declined a claim against “Narodnaya Vola”, filed by Siarhey Khanienya, Pro-rector of Homiel State University. The judge Viera Tupik announced the verdict after a trial session on June 9, 2010.

The claim was reasoned by a re-print of “The Candidates Have Produced Their Salaries' article from the “Tell the Truth!” civil campaign Web-pages. The provost’s gross income for the year of 2009 was presented as his salary by mistake.

Mr. Khanienya wanted to receive 95.5 million Belarusian rubles (around EUR 26,500) to cover his moral damages from the independent media outlet, despite a refutation publishing in the periodical edition, mentioned above.
