The Ministry of Information will Deal more Seriously with the Internet and the Ideology
Usievalad Yancheuski, the Head of Chief Ideological Department at the Presidential Administration and Aleh Pralaskouski, the Minister of Information of Belarus delivered quite controversial statements during the ministerial Board Meeting on the results of work in 2009 and the perspectives of activity in 2010 on January 29, 2010.
"The state… will do everything possible so that as many people as possible could use the Internet", noted U. Yancheyuski. "Nobody is going to blind the Web. It is impossible", he added.
At the same time, U. Yancheuski stressed that "the state would deal with the Internet", as the "huge phenomenon appears to be left without proper consideration." "Certainly, the state will be present in the Internet. Our ideology will be present there. And it will be presented efficiently… The Ministry of Information has to take care of this issue", Lukashenka’s aide emphasized. "It isn’t possible to exert influence on the Internet, making use of administrative methods of management like in other cases… The people will visit our Web-sites or ignore them. Therefore, we have to be convincing…", U. Yancheuski summarized his speech.
According to the BelTa News Agency’s report, the Minister of Information Aleh Pralaskouski noted as follows: "It is impossible to live and work as before… The information field is a constituent part of the ideological field. It includes a large range of directions, including book publishing, book trade, distribution of mass media, and the mass media themselves".
